The Promise of Spring

Spring is my favorite season of the year.

The winter days are cold,  nights are long.

The vegetation appears dead and lifeless.

Then, one day, it happens.

Warmth.

Tiny green leaves bud from skeletal twigs.

Flowering daffodil bulbs pop up in the sleeping flowerbeds.

Life.

Longer days of Light.

Resurrection.

Just like my life.

Spring brings hope.

“Our Lord has written the promise of the Resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in spring-time.” –Martin Luther

Just last week, beautiful little daffodils popped up out of nowhere in my yard. This is my first spring in this new yard. It’s so fun to see what other perennials will spring forth, producing life and beauty.

God looks at us as perennials. We may have our personal wilting, decaying periods, but He sees our potential. He knows we will grow and bloom again and again, adding life and beauty to our environment.

If you are feeling wilted or discarded, be encouraged today. God will resurrect the dead places in our life. Believe in the Resurrection. Spring brings Hope.

Reflect:

–What is your favorite season and why?

–What part of your life needs resurrecting like a perennial? Please comment.

–How can I plant seeds of encouragement?

Renew:

–“I came that they may have life, and have it to the full.” –John 10:10

–“‘Jesus said to her, ‘I am the Resurrection and the Life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies, and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?'” –John 11:25

–“Each of us did the work the Lord gave us. I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow.”  –1 Corinthians 3:5-7 NIV

  1. I love Spring too and loved this devotion! Thank you friend. I love likening us to perennials😁. Spring Brings Hope

  2. Danya,

Where did you run to? I miss you no longer being at Roper or am I just not seeing you there. I enjoy your Blog still but do not often comment. I like the resurrection analogy
as I feel it happening each morning.

Where ever you are I hope you are well.

    • Happy Easter Monday, Bernie! Thank you so much for reading and responding to my little leap-of-faith blog. I sure do miss y’all. The Lord called me last year to be Executive Director of Donor Development of an international Christian ministry based out of Matthews, NC called Proverbs 31 Ministries. I worked from home in Charleston for several months and kept feeling the Holy Spirit nudge me to move here to NC. It’s been a wonderful transition. I love and miss Charleston and know this is home in NC. Please call or come visit anytime. Thank you for the impact you are making at Roper St. Francis Healthcare. I love and respect y’all so much.
